The science of intelligent systems is based on the premise there exists an essence that is shared by all biological and machine manifestations of intelligence. Many within cognitive science assumed that the essence existed in the form of symbols manipulated by a finite set of rules. With the more recent emergence of embodied cognition comes the assumption that mind is inherently embedded. The Intelligent Adaptive Systems aims to provide students with the ability to create these intelligent adaptive systems and to prepare them for a future market, where intelligent behaviour is considered the standard for computer systems. It is a 2-year, research-oriented programme taught in English, integrating concepts from informatics.
